Jun Jamosmos - Fine Artist

Stockton, CA - United States

'...every subject I paint invokes a call to a journey that doesn't stop with and in the canvas. For beyond I see freedom...

Jun's favorite media include oil, acrylic and watercolor. In either of these versatile medium, he approaches his still-life paintings with a broad, down-to-earth touch, grouping objects in scenarios that convey warm and comfortable domesticity. Simplicity in his composition resonates who he is - a minimalist in most aspects of his life.

Jun is drawn to simple and plain objects. But more than what meets the eye, he paints to find and depict deeper meaning in his subjects. His inspiration stems from the beauty of God's creation and the wonder of His mighty love for us. Jun tries to reflect the grandeur of His creation by painting the simple and common things in life. He echoes the uniqueness and individuality of how each one of us is created differently, in the warm earth tones of his paintings.

Originally from the Philippines, he started to draw when he was five and painting became a hobby while growing up. Jun is a self-taught artist primarily by brooding over art books and magazines, visiting art museums and galleries. He has studied the techniques of international artists Robert Wade, William Hook and Morgan Weistling.

He moved to Stockton, California from the Philippines in 1995 with his equaly talented wife, Adjing, and their two children. He has joined and sold his work in various art shows in the Central Valley. He is a regular at the Elsie May Goodwin Gallery and continues to do art commission work while working as an accountant in Stockton.

Jun primarily paints from life, from photographs or memories of an experience. For him, every subject he paints invokes a call to a journey that doesn't stop in the canvas or the frame. His body of work on exhibit this month are mostly portraits challenging, complex and colorful as human nature itself.

Jun's works are in private collections here in the United States, Asia and Europe.
